20 new additions to my dildo collection!

Kos reports this list of 20 senators who refused to cosponsor the anti-lynching resolution passed yesterday.

Lamar Alexander (R-TN)
Robert Bennett (R-UT)
Christopher Bond (R-MO)
Jim Bunning (R-KY)
Conrad Burns (R-MT)
Saxby Chambliss (R-GA)
Thad Cochran (R-MS)
Kent Conrad (D-ND)
John Cornyn (R-TX)
Michael Crapo (R-ID)
Michael Enzi (R-WY)
Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
Judd Gregg (R-NH)
Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
Trent Lott (R-MS)
Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Richard Shelby (R-AL)
John Sununu (R-NH)
Craig Thomas (R-WY)
George Voinovich (R-OH)

Anti-Lynching. But no, the Republicans aren’t racist, and you’re probably a terrorist for even thinking that. That’s the politics of personal destruction! That’s a personal attack! Why do the loony anti-lynching lefties hate America so much? HUH?

Incidentally, this list would seem to indicate that 37.25% of Senate Republicans think lynching was A-Ok. Yeah, you’re right, that is more than a third!

  1. commentator Says:

The vote was unanimous; it’s been passed. The Senate has apologized for the filibusters of southern Democrats. It’s time to move on.

  2. res publica Says:

The “vote” was “unanimous” because the republican obstructionists wouldn’t let the matter come to a roll-call vote. Voice votes are all unanimous, even if there’s only one senator present. Consponsorship is the issue here, and since any senator can cosponsor this resolution even now, I think it’s reasonable to wonder about these senators who don’t want to sing on with this resolution. And since it’s my blog, I’ll be deciding when it’s “time to move on”, not you. 🙂

  3. Heraldblog Says:

Note how “Anonymous” framed the issue as a problem of “southern Democrats.” Perhaps Mr. Anonymous would like to comment on where those Southern Democratic votes went after LBJ signed the 1964 voting rights act. Or would Mr. Anonymous prefer to “move on”?
