Global Warming — Atleast Some Get It!

null

In June, the government of Quebec announced a carbon tax on oil and gas companies as an initiative to fight climate changes. Reactions were positive and Canadians recognize the tax as paramount to attempts to reduce man-made greenhouse gases. President Premier Jean Charest went further by insisting that oil producers not be allowed to pass the tax onto consumers.

Imagine a politician who isn’t on the side of big business? Why is it that Canadian politicians get it and American politicians do not appear to have the slightest clue? Perhaps elected folks from Oklahoma should take a lesson from its neighbor to the north who not only defeated America in a war many years ago, but has lived peacefully and civilly for far more years than America can ever imagine.

  4. The Uncanny Canadian Says:

Charest is pretty damn popular. We could probably make a fictitious government position for him, say call him the President, and he would be easily elected.

  5. Kevin Wolf Says:

Damn Canadians, think you’re so smart.

    Oh, wait – you are.

  6. madamerouge Says:

Actually, AG, for a second I thought you were a closet separatist.

  7. almostinfamous Says:

we’re all separatists now, MR. you’re either with them or against them

  8. Adorable Girlfriend Says:

Oh no, AIF. You are going to get UC started. He was yelling about Lebanon and Israel the other day. AG was all about just reading the paper and going to the film festival. Hello, big picture: AG! He was all about arguing. He said if AG was silent, she was for Lebanon. Let’s not encourage this beast again.

(P.S. I am so happy to see you are back AIF! I missed you. I must be dying or something because you are blogging and Midniter is blogging!)

Considering the price of gas in la belle province I would say the not passing the tax on to the consumer thing flew out the window pretty quickly.
